Missions

Missions is at the heart of WCAG! As a church, we have committed to give 20% of our general budget to the work of sharing the good news of Jesus with the world. This means that in 2010, members at WCAG gave over $450,121 to local and foreign missions. We currently support approximately 40 missionary families from around the globe. In addition, we support several organizations that minister to the poor, homeless, orphans, and unborn. These include: The Pregnancy Resource Center, Vitae Society, Sunshine Mission, Campus Crusade for Christ, New Life Evangelistic Center, Focus on the Family, Teen Challenge, Emerge Ministries, Metro Ministries, Metro Vision, Inner City Ministries, the Highland Children’s Home, Full Life Community Church, Central Bible College, and Evangel University. One-time or designated gifts have been given to Convoy of Hope, Stepping Into the Light, Light for the Lost, Zambia Missions, Vietnam Missions, Ghana Missions, and Sister Josephina’s Juarez Orphanage.

For more than 20 years, WCAG has gone to various locations around the world, particularly places in Mexico, to build churches and orphanages. We currently take a church-wide trip every other year and do a smaller trip in the off year.

WCAG hosts multiple local ministry events, including Gobble Wobble, an annual Thanksgiving 5K Walk/Run that raises money for St. Louis Teen Challenge. In 2010, over $7,593 was raised for this faith-based, drug and alcohol rehabilitation ministry. Easter baskets are distributed to many local nursing home residents while shoeboxes are packed for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse. In addition, we support three local women's shelters with financial assistance and volunteer help for projects like painting, cleaning, organizing, decorating, maintenance, and fund raising. The members of WCAG are enthusiastic ministers with big hearts and open hands!
